What happens when all of your bunchies had no other appointments but to meet with you on a lazy day? Unplanned trips are always the best. That was September when me and my favorite humans decided for an escapade. The four of us planned for a venture at this famous falls located here in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Philippines despite how many times we were there. If you might not know about the city, here's what you need to read below for a short introduction.
The city is known for its 23 majestic waterfalls and a lot of hot spots to take a short trip. Among these falls is the city's pride: the Maria Cristina Falls. Located at the Agus River on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, it is sometimes called "the twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall. Next to this magnificent waterfall is also what my blog is all about, the Tinago Falls. Iligan City is a place with smiling faces and a venue for native delicacies and ethnic culture. You might want to visit if you plan for a tour!
The waterfall was located on the Agus River in Linamon town outside Iligan City, but it's also close enough the gap so there's not much difference in its distance. Tinago Falls is most commonly visited by many tourists and probably the one with fantasy-like scenery. Going towards the venue will require you a little bit amount of walking resistance as the path leads from the top mount going down the steep stairs with almost 500 stepping stones. Seeing the number is really that huge but on behalf of sacrificing your very legs, there is really a 'view-to-must-see' at the bottom of this winding staircase.
To describe the place, it was almost a 'hidden' lagoon where nature surrounds the falls and the echoing silence bounds the area. Walking down the steps is fun, letting you see the view of the mountain tops and tree tips from afar and as you descend on the stairs you would also come across with visitors who were done with their venture.
It's definitely refreshing and as cool breezy! As you go further to closer at the field of the falls, you'd finally get to feel the tingling splashes of water bits from the rushing waterfall. When getting to the bed of wet grounds, before you lies a bunch of visitors and tourists swarming over the crater of the waterbed.
But it's not just swimming to your satisfaction. Tinago Falls also features a floater boat made out of huge bamboo logs that transports you from your spot towards the gushing waterfall which is also led by a rope that connects both far-end of each area. The boat can hold up 8-10 men; although, swimming in the falls requires you to wear safety vest which amounts to 25 PHP only. Not bad for a good spot to stay refreshed! The seabed is actually deeper than what you thought but hey, a lot of fun comes at making your visit here.
